Vulnerability Research - Overview

Background

Digital Defense has a team of security analysts who carry out both pure and applied security vulnerabilities research. Pure research, by our definition, is the discovery of vulnerabilities through theoretical and lab analysis of network architectures and/or devices that may introduce vulnerabilities into a network. Applied research is the discovery of new vulnerabilities while performing security services (e.g., penetration testing) for a Digital Defense client.

The responsibilities of our analysts include both cross-industry and market-specific vulnerability research. Cross-industry vulnerability research involves evaluation of platforms that are found in virtually every market, whereas market-specific vulnerability research entails evaluation of platforms that are used in specific market applications (e.g., core processing systems used by financial institutions).

When we discover new vulnerabilities, Digital Defense (the “Company”) adheres to the Vulnerability Disclosure Policy and Process described below as far as the release of information to computer industry vendors, our clients and the public.
